Phil Sharpe to be DMP Sharks Head Coach for 2016-17 season

DMP Sharks are pleased to announce that Phil Sharpe will be their new Head Coach for the forthcoming season on a one year contract.  Sharpe, who joins the Sharks from Norfolk based teams Southwold RFC and the University of East Anglia Rugby, will start working with the team from July in preparation for the new season.

Sharpe’s coaching repertoire includes Norfolk County and London & South East divisional team in addition to spells at Northampton Saints DPP, Diss RFC and Lowestoft and Yarmouth RFC.  A level 3 coach whose focus revolves around player development, Sharpe will play a vital role in the leadership of the Sharks campaign.

Commenting on his appointment Phil said: “I am very excited to be working with such a talented group of players and am keen to see just how far they will go. There are a lot of changes happening in rugby and it is a privilege to be part of it especially here at DMP Sharks.”

In addition to coaching expertise, Sharpe also holds qualifications in strength and conditioning and fitness which will be a great asset to evolution of the team and in their approach to match preparation.

Sharks Captain Georgina Roberts is looking forward to getting the preparations underway “We welcome Phil into the DMP family and eagerly await the fresh perspective he will inevitably bring to the table. Sharks are keen to leave a mark on the Premiership next season and hope that he will provide the team with an added dimension to our performances.”
