England’s Chloe Birch and Sarah Walker win first title together

  • +1

England’s Chloe Birch and Sarah Walker won their first title together after landing the Slovenia International women’s doubles title on Sunday.

Birch and Walker, the fourth seeds, beat England’s Jess Pugh and Cheryl Seinen of the Netherlands 22-20. 21-19.

The English pairing, who reached the Portuguese International final in March, beat Ukranian top seeds Natalya Voytsekh and Yelzaveta Zharka in the semi-finals on their way to winning their first title together.

Victory for Birch made up for the disappointment of missing out in the women’s singles.

The 20-year-old top seed was a beaten semi-finalist on Saturday as she looked to secure back-to-back final appearances at the event.

Ben Lane and Sean Vendy reached the semi-finals of the men’s doubles.

Top seeds Lane and Pugh’s bid in the mixed doubles ended at the last eight stage.
