2016 Women’s Challenge Cup

The first round draw for the 2016 Women’s  Challenge Cup has now been made.

Bradford Bulls will travel to Stanningley in the pick of the 2016 Women’s Challenge cup round one draw. The newly-formed Bulls, who were 24-0 winners at Oulton Raidettes in their first-ever league game on Sunday, are set to head to the Arthur Miller Stadium in their first cup game on Sunday, 8 May.

Elsewhere, Selby Warriors host Army RL Women, Normanton welcome Thatto Heath, Oulton Raidettes visit Rochdale Hornets and Brighouse Rangers face a trip to Leigh Miners Rangers.

Featherstone Rovers, Lindley Swifts and Wigan St Patrick’s have all received byes.

The five losing teams from round one will go on to join a selection of the Merit League sides in the Challenge Shield. Both tournaments will conclude with finals to be played as a double header on Sunday, 31 July – the venue will be announced shortly.

RFL Competition Officer Lindsay Crompton said: “Good luck to all the teams who will be involved in what is sure to be another exciting year of Women’s Cup action. With Round 1 scheduled after the May Bank Holiday weekend, teams who were drawn a bye are encouraged to organise a friendly fixture with Women’s Merit League sides – please let me know of your availability.”
