Wiltshire to remain in Somerset

  • +1
Yeovil attacking player Sarah Wiltshire has once again committed to the Somerset side.
Wiltshire has signed FA Women’s Super League forms, which will see her remain at the club for the 2016 season.  The 24 year old, who lives in Hatfield in Hertfordshire, notched 10 goals in 11 appearances in the 2014 season, when she joined from Watford.
These performances were enough to catch the eye of Women’s Super League One club Manchester City, which she joined for the 2015 season, but returned to Somerset at the mid-season break, where after 14 appearances she hit the back of the net 3 times.
With the build up to the new FAWSL season now in full flow and with an FA Women’s Cup game next weekend against Bradford City Women, Wiltshire will be relishing being in and amongst a new attacking dimension in the squad.
Having enjoyed her time at Yeovil and it feeling like home to her, Wiltshire said “There was no other club which I was going to sign for this season. We’ve got a strong group here at Yeovil and there is no other place I’d rather be playing my football.”
“The team is coming together nicely and is raring to go for the new season, and I can’t wait for it all to begin next weekend against Bradford in the cup.”
“With the league fixtures now released, it’s a sign of the season now fast approaching and I will be working my hardest to ensure that this club, which I can call my home, will compete strongly and push for promotion.”
Manager Jamie Sherwood commented: “Retaining the services of Sarah is another excellent piece of business by the club. She has been away on loan playing and scoring goals for Cambridge Utd in our off season as we both felt that this was the best opportunity for her to keep ticking over.”
“Since her return to pre-season training, we can see the sparkle in her eye for goal and the twinkle in her toes when being creative and we look forward to seeing her link up with the attacking players we now have at Yeovil Town Ladies.”
“This is Sarah’s first full pre-season with the club and she is already our leading FA WSL goalscorer of all time and we fully expect her to double that tally this coming season.”
“I have always said that when Sarah is smiling her game is flowing, creative and very good to watch. Sarah is back smiling and looking sharp and positive, which can only mean that she’s ready to remind people of what she can do.”
