Lancashire make key appointments for Super League Team

Key Appointments Confirmed to the Management, Coaching Team and Support Staff for the Lancashire Women’s Cricket Super League Team

Following on from the recent ECB announcement about Lancashire Cricket Board’s (with partners Lancashire County Cricket Club and LCCC Foundation) successful bid to be a host for the Women’s Cricket Super League, the LCB is pleased to announce some key appointments to the Management, Coaching and Support Team for the 2016 inaugural season, with more to potentially follow.

Bobby Cross, who has led on the whole bid process, has been named the General Manager and will be responsible for overseeing all operational elements of the host team, both on and off the field, and the coaching team and support staff. He will also work closely with LCB’s Women & Girls’ Cricket Development Officer and the LCCC Foundation to help grow participation and interest within the wider community.

LCB’s Performance Manager and ECB Level 4 coach Stephen Titchard, with his experience of playing and coaching at professional level, has been appointed the team’s Head Coach. He has and continues to be responsible for talent identification / development programmes for junior boys and girls within the county age group system. He will be assisted by Jenny Barden who is currently the LCB’s Women and Girls’ Cricket Development Officer and has vast experience of the Women’s game and currently studying for an ECB Level 4 coaching qualification.

They will lead a team of skills coaches including science / medicine support which will include former Lancashire, Surrey and Nottinghamshire player Gary Keedy, who will take on the role of Spin Bowling Coach. Former Derbyshire player and Head Coach Karl Krikken has been appointed as Wicket Keeping Coach. Current LCB staff members Chris Chambers, who leads on fielding skills for LCB’s Emerging Players’ Programme for girls, will take on the role as the team’s Fielding Coach and Chris Highton has been appointed as the Performance Analyst, which he currently undertakes for the England Physical Disabilities squad. Christina Carr LCB’s Strength and Conditioning Coach will lead on all aspects of the players’ physical development.

Bobby Denning, Managing Director of the Lancashire Cricket Board, will support the General Manager with internal and external matters, along with developing and maintaining external relationships and representing the LCB and the host team as and when necessary.

Bobby Cross, the General Manager, said: “The Women’s Cricket Super League is another significant step forward in the game in this country and the quality of personnel that will work with our squad speaks volumes for our investment in this development. Coaches with huge first class playing experience combined with some of our own hugely talented and enthusiastic staff will give our players the best possible opportunity to improve and showcase their abilities.

“For the first year we are very keen to utilise and develop our existing staff as much as possible and give opportunities to be involved in this exciting development of women’s cricket.”

Further announcements will be made when the name of the team is confirmed with colours that they will play in, including details of squads, fixtures and further additions to the staffing / coaching structure. There will also be a new website and social media offer so new fans of the team can follow and get latest news and updates.
