The form book was thrown out of the window during the first round of matches at the Dubai 7s today with the first three matches giving surprise results, the biggest probably being Russia beating New Zealand by 33-7.  Canada and the USA were also beaten by Fiji and Ireland respectively.

England made a good start with their win over Japan – next up for them was Spain, which they won in the closing minutes thanks to a try from Heather Fisher.  Their loss in the final match against Australia puts them 2nd in the group and they will now face Canada tomorrow morning in the quarter finals.
