Stacey Pearson blows the whistle on playing career

  • +1
After more than 9 years of playing football at Yeovil Town Ladies, Stacey Pearson has made the hard decision to hang up her boots to enable her to focus on her refereeing career.
Pearson has seen many highs for the club and was the first ever goalscorer for Yeovil Town Ladies FC in the clubs opening fixture in the FAWSL against London Bees in 2014 and she later went on to score a hat trick in that game.
Pearson is level 5 referee, currently 6 games into her promotion campaign to get level 4 and on this decision Pearson said “I have decided to put my time and effort into achieving my ambitions into hopefully one day becoming an international referee.”
“A close friend of mine once said if I worked hard I could go all the way and even get to a world cup one day, so I want to prove him right and this is the first step in doing that.”
“I have made some amazing friends, played with some quality players and created some amazing memories, which I will always cherish.”
Pearson added “I have made some of the best friends I could ask for, who have made my time at Yeovil even more worthwhile. Thank you to all those who have supported me along the way.”
First Team manager Jamie Sherwood who has steered the club up the table this season said “We wish Stacey well. She has always been very professional in her attitude and her training. She has been a great servant for the club and has been involved in some very historic games through her career with the club.”
Club President David Mills has seen first hand, the contribution that Pearson has made to the club in her time.
Mills said “Stacey has been a major part of the club for almost a decade and her influence on and off the field in that time cannot be underestimated. The club has come an amazing way in this time and so has Stacey as a player and a role model.”
“Yeovil Town Ladies FC owes Stacey a massive vote of thanks for her contribution and a playing career she can be proud of”
The club also gave thanks to Stacey’s sponsor this season – Chris Leigh,  a valued supporter.
