Record Crowd at Huish Park for Yeovil Town v Millwall Lionesses

  • +1

Natasha Knapman’s first-half header was enough to secure victory for Yeovil Town over Millwall in front of a bumper crowd at Huish Park.

It was the Lady Glovers first game at Huish Park in two years and with 722 people in attendance the Glovers secured the win that keeps them third in the FA WSL 2 table.

The Lady Glovers started the brightest and on 19 minutes, it looked as though they had taken the lead when Sarah Wiltshire reacted quickest after Annie Heatherson’s powerful drive cannoned back off the post to turn the ball home, but she was adjudged to have been in an offside position.

Two minutes later, the Lady Glovers finally made the breakthrough when Knapman headed home Wiltshire’s cross from the left hand side.

Yeovil came close to doubling their lead before half time but Heatherson and Wiltshire were both denied by the woodwork.

The hosts started the second half as they finished the first, as Stephanie Williams had a free-kick saved by Millwall keeper Sarah Quantrill.

On the hour mark Fliss Gibbons looked well placed to score an equaliser for the visitors – only to be denied by a late saving tackle from Lady Glovers’ skipper Natalie Haigh – as the Lionesses slumped to their fourth loss in a row.
