Match preview Team Northumbria v Loughborough Lightning

Lightning travel up the M1 today to face a Northumbria team who sit one place higher in the Netball Superleague table, after taking one win from their first three games of the season, as the final game in round 4 of the Superleague.

Karen Atkinson’s side will be looking to build on their confidence boosting 58-44 victory over Celtic Dragons last Monday, their first of the 2015 Netball Superleague season.

Team Northumbria come into the game on the back of a 45-59 loss at home to a strong Yorkshire Jets side, who also defeated Lightning in the first match of the season. Atkinson has been able to name the same squad to face Northumbria, and will be hoping for another strong performance in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Shooter Peace Proscovia, who was Player of the Match in the victory over Celtic Dragons will be looking to continue her fantastic start to the season, which has seen her shoot 106 goals, with 92% accuracy, the second highest in the Netball Superleague.

Team Northumbria’s Nicole Styles will be one to watch for Lightning, after her excellent defensive performance in the victory over Celtic Dragons earned her the Player of the Match award.

Lightning goal-defence Rachel Forbes will be pitted against her Scottish National teammate Hayley Mulheron, who both played in Scotland’s victories over Northern Ireland at the the weekend.

Tonight’s match will be shown live on Sky Sports 3 from 7:30pm.
