The England squad for the upcoming International Series against The Queens of Malawi has now been announced following selection trials held earlier this week. Jade Clarke will once again lead the team into action for their final playing commitments of 2014 and has been named co-captain alongside the returning Pamela Cookey.
It will be a first competitive outing for the ever popular Cookey who has been side-lined with an Achilles injury since the Netball Superleague Finals weekend. Another player due to pull the red dress back on is Surrey Storm’s Tamsin Greenway. Following a break from the international scene after having her first child, the mid-courter is set for her first England appearance since April 2012.
Recently voted as The Guardian’s Netballer of the Year, Geva Mentor is in line to collect her 100th cap during this Series, she currently sits on 99 appearances. The combative defender will become the second member of the current squad, after Clarke, to join the centenary club.
The squad selected for the December Series against Malawi is as follows;
Jade Clarke (Co-Captain), Pamela Cookey (Co-Captain), Ama Agbeze, Rosie Allison, Sara Bayman, Eboni Beckford-Chambers, Sam Cook, Kadeen Corbin, Sasha Corbin, Rachel Dunn, Stacey Francis, Tamsin Greenway – subject to fitness, Jo Harten, Geva Mentor
During the International Series, England ‘A’ will also be in action for a pair of matches and the squad will be as follows;
Sophia Candappa, Beth Cobden, Rhea Dixon, Emma Dovey, Natalie Haythornthwaite, Helen Housby, Lindsay Keable, Laura Malcolm, Yasmin Parsons, Mia Ritchie, Alice Travis, Georgie Webster
Limited tickets remain for the fixtures at the Echo Arena in Liverpool and the Copper Box in London. They can be purchased via the England Netball website.
Tickets for our final match in Worcester are currently sold out but England Netball is in discussions to release additional seats and will provide an update shortly.
